How We Test Whether a Game Really Works Offline
People sometimes ask how we decide a game is truly offline-friendly. The honest answer is that we're a bit stubborn about it. Airplane mode goes on before we even reach the main menu.
We check for the obvious traps first: does it demand a login, does it stall on a loading screen, does progression quietly refuse to save. Then we play a full session disconnected and see what breaks.
Battery and heat matter too. A game that's technically offline but cooks your phone in twenty minutes isn't a great travel pick, so we note that in the review when it happens.
Finally we replay a day later, still offline, to confirm nothing was lost. It's not glamorous testing, but it's the only way to promise something works when you're actually out of signal.
That's the whole process. No labs, no fancy rigs, just real phones used the way you'd use them.
