Big Bass Splash is one of those games I picked up expecting to bounce off in ten minutes and ended up playing for a whole rainy afternoon. It's a fishing sim at heart: you pick a spot, cast your line and read the water while you wait for a bite. The whole thing runs fine offline, which is exactly why it landed on our test bench.
The control scheme is simple but surprisingly tactile. You flick to cast, then reel with a rhythm that changes depending on how the fish is fighting. Yank too hard and the line snaps; go too soft and it wriggles free. Different spots hold different fish, and there's a gentle progression as you unlock new rods and locations. It never rushes you.
What I liked most is the mood. The sound design does a lot of heavy lifting, all soft water and distant birds, and it makes for a genuinely relaxing session. It's not deep in the RPG sense, but as a wind-down game it nails the loop. Bring headphones.
